Hand-knotted in the early-20th century, “Del Douganeh” (Twofold Heart – Persian) features a rare double-medallion layout; two vertically aligned oval medallions placed within a warm beige field, flanked by ornate floral spandrels and stylized border motifs. The medallions are bordered by scrolling corner flourishes, while the surrounding field is adorned with delicate rosettes and faint geometric tracery. The primary border includes a sequence of tulip and leaf forms rendered in vivid tones of crimson, saffron yellow, and dark blue, which are traditionally linked to fertility, beauty, and protection.
Del Douganeh’s weaving utilizes the Turkish Ghiordes symmetrical knot and plant-root based natural dyes, allowing for structural durability and pattern clarity. The pile is crafted from quality wool on a wool warp, providing firmness and longevity.
