Woven in early-to-mid 20th century, “Arbor Vitae” (Tree of Life – Latin) features the tree symbol rendered in a bold, stylized layout across a warm golden-tan field, symbolizing life. The Tree’s ascending trunk and symmetrical branches express themes of continuity, spiritual connection, and regeneration. This layout speaks to a deeply rooted cultural narrative that links the earthly realm to the divine. The surrounding border is equally symbolic; a deep indigo frame contains stylized ram’s horn motifs, which in Turkish rug tradition stand for strength and protection. Guard borders in terracotta and muted olives display geometric diamonds, often associated with feminine fertility and wholeness.
