Hand-knotted in the early-20th-century, “Khvarenah” (Spiritual Radiance / Divine Glory – Persian) embodies a diamond-like central medallion set as the focal point against a deep terracotta field, encircled by elaborate multi-bordered frames. The rich palette features earthy reds, midnight blue, ochre, and ivory, supporting its bold pattern while retaining a grounded, organic harmony. Symbolically, the central medallion is often interpreted as a motif of unity and cosmic order. Ram’s horn motifs found in the border evoke protection, fertility, and strength, while zig-zag and hooked forms signify vitality and life’s flow. Star-like elements further suggest spiritual guidance or illumination.
Khvarenah is woven using the traditional Turkish Ghiordes knot, known for its durability and clear geometric articulation.
