Hand-knotted in the late 20th-century, “Dzaghik” (Flower – Armenian) features a multi-layered diamond medallion framed by softly angular corner spandrels and a classically structured border, offering both regional charm and enduring elegance. Its color composition features a light beige field, navy-blue medallion, and warm terracotta accents, and it is grounded by ochre and deep red in the borders, delivering a richly layered but balanced palette. Motifs such as floral rosettes and zigzag corner panels symbolically reference life, vitality, and the protective boundaries of the home. Angular horn motifs in the borders derive from the traditional ram’s horn, an emblem of strength and fertility.
Woven using the durable Ghiordes knot, with a wool pile on a wool foundation, Dzaghik displays a robust structure and well-defined motifs.
